Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for Treatment of Long COVID Symptoms

Long COVID can affect nearly every aspect of daily life, causing fatigue, brain fog, sleep disturbances, shortness of breath, and difficulty returning to normal activities. Emerging research suggests Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can help address several of the underlying biological processes involved in Long COVID, including inflammation, impaired blood flow, and tissue oxygen deficits. Advanced brain imaging studies have demonstrated measurable improvements in brain activity and perfusion following HBOT treatment in patients with Long COVID.

A randomized, sham-controlled clinical trial demonstrated that patients receiving HBOT experienced significant improvements in cognitive function, energy levels, sleep quality, and overall quality of life. Follow-up research demonstrated that many of these benefits persisted for at least one year after treatment. While HBOT is not yet considered a standard treatment for Long COVID, the growing body of evidence suggests it may be a promising option for patients seeking recovery from persistent post-COVID symptoms.
